Purpose

The compilation and editing of a new sports encyclopedia serves the purpose of manifesting the spirit of sports and conveying professional knowledge. The scope of the project includes all sports subjects and skills. The book is aimed at professionals in the field of sports and sports enthusiasts. The 9000 entries are expected to be completed within two years

Task list

I.        First year:
1. Determine theediting process, compilation guidelines and methods for the sports encyclopedia
2. Forming of an editing and compilation team
3. Assist the Ministry of Education in convening an information meeting for members of the editorial commission and creation of a manual for the editing process which covers the following aspects
(1) Composition of entries, Image copyright, key word selection, information sources, and references
(2) Formulate aletter of authorization for the use of text and online transmission
(3) Manuscript remuneration principles
4. Convening of editorial and compilation meetings and assistance in the acquisition of letters of authorization from staff writers
5. Staff writers compose encyclopedia entries (drafting stage)
6. Discuss thedrafting stage process; modification and determination of composition rules based on the drafting stage; official composition stage
7. The first stage of the review process is conducted by convenors from different fields
8. The data are submitted to members of the executive committee for the revision of the sports encyclopedia formed by the Ministry of Education for the second stage of the review process
9. Initiate the editing process upon confirmation of the contents
10. Completion of the first stage of the composition process (around 4000 entries) including the revision and initial editing process
(II)Second year:
1. Second stage of the composition process (around 5000 entries)
2.Convene ameeting of editors to determine entries to be included
3. Convene all types of editorial meetings
4. Entries are composed by all kinds of staff writers
5. Actual reviews are conducted by convenors and entries are returned to staff writers for final revisions
6. Data are submitted to the revision committee for the second stage of the review process
7.Initiate theediting process upon confirmation of the contents
8. Complete the second stage of the composition process (around 5000 entries) including the revision and initial editing process
9. Complete the editing and revision process for the whole book ((a total of 9000 entries)
