In order to foster the intercollegiate athletic development in our nation, to advance the level of athletic skills as well as to find and cultivate excellent athletes, National Intercollegiate Athletic Game (NIAG) is therefore being hosted once every year, particularly in around April and May, with its maximum length of competition period not exceeding 7 days.

The college or university willing to host NIAG will be required to propose an application to the Ministry of Education (MOE) two years in prior to the Game. An election panel will be appointed by the MOE whose main duty aims to conduct a public election for the candidates. The election panel will also need to investigate and evaluate each candidate while the final result that reveals the host of NIAG will be announced by the MOE.
