The Executive Committee for the 2026 International Children’s Games (ICG) held an unveiling ceremony at the Hualien County Sports and Leisure Park, officially marking the launch of preparations for the event.

The Sports Administration held the "Student Water Safety Carnival" on May 30-31 this year (2025), alongside the Tainan City International Dragon Boat Championships, at Anping, Tainan. The event aimed to promote and deepen awareness of drowning prevention and self-rescue skills. The 2024 HBL High School Basketball Division B Finals took place from May 13 to 17 at Banqiao Gymnasium, where the championship title was decided. On May 7, a press conference for the finals was held, bringing together the eight semifinalist teams—four men’s and four women’s teams—and inviting everyone to come and witness exciting basketball action.

The opening ceremony of the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City was held on May 17 at Taipei Dome. Over 25,000 athletes and accompanying personnel from 107 countries and regions around the world participated in this grand event, together welcoming Asia’s first Masters Games. The Sports Administration's "2025 Sports Village Certification" program is now accepting applications, inviting village and neighborhood offices across Taiwan to jointly build sports villages. Submissions are being accepted from now until June 30. To ensure the safety of river tracing activities and protect consumer rights, the Sports Administration issued a letter in February 2025 urging local governments to supervise and guide operators and personnel engaged in river tracing within their jurisdictions, enabling the public to participate safely. The Anong Creek Canoe Slalom Course is set to become an important venue for national and international competitions in the future, representing a milestone in the development of canoeing in Taiwan.

The Sports Administration held the second session of the “2025 Sports Event Taiwan Workshop Series Forum” at the Red House in Ximen, inviting local governments and event organizers to participate. International speakers included representatives from Japan, Finland, the Philippines, Vietnam, and members of the International Children’s Games (ICG), who joined Taiwanese experts and scholars to share their insights.

On behalf of President Lai, SA Director-General Cheng Shih-Chung (right), presented a congratulatory message to Chairperson Lin Yi-hua (pictured left) of the 2025 Taipei-New Taipei Masters Games Executive Committee, and extended best wishes for the World Masters Games 2025 Taipei & New Taipei City, hoping it will be a complete success.
