Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the twice-postponed 31st Summer edition of the FISU World University Games (hereinafter Chengdu 2021 Universiade) has entered the final countdown stage. The Chengdu 2021 Universiade will kick off with the opening ceremony at 8:00 pm on July 28th. To enable people in Taiwan to watch this major international event on TV and online, the Sports Administration has joined hands with ELTA, EBC and PTV to carry out a joint broadcast for 11 days from July 28th to August 8th this year (2023).
With ELTA TV as the broadcast agent and supported by the Sports Development Fund of the Ministry of Education, Chengdu 2021 Universiade will be broadcast on the mobile platforms ELTA Sports channels 1, 2 and 3 of Chunghwa Telecom’s MOD (CH200,CH201,CH202) and the internet and mobile platforms ELTA.tv and Hami Video (ELTA Sports Max 1-4). In addition, it will also be shown on wireless PTV 3, and cable EBC and EBC Super TV. People are invited to enjoy this sports feast together across platforms and without time delay and to witness the glorious sports moments of Taiwan’s athletes.
The Taiwan delegation has been preparing for Chengdu 2021 Universiade participation and has set off for the competition in groups. Other than competition affairs, the Sports Administration stated that in order to protect the right of the domestic public to watch the competition, media platforms have been simultaneously arranged for live broadcast. Taiwan will send 210 athletes to participate in 16 sports in total. Chengdu 2021 Universiade is not only a stage for the World University Games to show its development achievements, but also an important platform for promoting international friendship and cultural exchanges. It is also a outpost ahead of the Hangzhou Asian Games in September, and an opportunity to inspect training results. It is hoped that the performance of Taiwan’s athletes will reach new heights and win medal glory, for the world to see Taiwan and its sports power.
