The ISF Gymnasiade Bahrain 2024 will take place in Manama, Bahrain, from October 23 to 31. Taiwan has selected athletes to compete in 19 sports, including track and field, archery, badminton, 3-on-3 basketball, boxing, breaking, fencing, competitive gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, karate, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, wrestling, Para track and field, Para badminton, and Para swimming. The delegation consists of 200 members, including 120 athletes, 38 coaches, and 42 staff. Among the support team are four team doctors, nine athletic trainers, and three physical therapists, ensuring comprehensive medical care for all 19 sports teams.
The Gymnasiade has been held every two years from 2018. It aims to strengthen exchanges and communication among junior high and high school students from various countries and regions, allowing them to learn from each other through participating in various sports competitions and cultural and educational activities, make friends, and engage in substantial cultural exchanges; this will broaden their international horizons, allow them to share the joy and become young people with a world view.
In recent years, the International School Sports Federation (ISF) has actively promoted Gymnasiade para sports. For this competition, Taiwan has also selected athletes to participate in Para track and field, Para badminton and Para swimming, providing an international stage for our Para athletes. The coaches and athletes selected for this year's team are all outstanding talents, including Yang Mei-mei and Chu Chieh-yu, who won gold medals at the 2023 U15 Gymnasiade. In addition, many 2024 Taiwan National School Games gold medal athletes in badminton, table tennis, archery, fencing, gymnastics, karate, taekwondo and swimming have been selected for Bahrain .
The SA emphasized that player cultivation depends on long-term efforts at the grassroots level. By creating a high-quality sports training environment, young athletes with high potential are systematically and consistently trained, ensuring the continued strength and succession of national teams. In this competition, it is hoped that all athletes will embody the true spirit and character of sportsmanship, give their best effort, gain valuable experience, and build international friendships through their participation.
