The Youth Sports Voucher will be valid at all YouBike locations across Taiwan from mid-July! The Sports Administration(SA)issues an annual NT$500 TWD Youth Sports Voucher to each citizen aged 16 to 22 to encourage young people to actively participate in sports activities and watch sports events. The voucher focuses on the core sports industries of “doing sports” and “watching competitions.” To expand voucher usage, starting from July 15 this year (2025), the Youth Sports Voucher can be exchange for a “YouBike Sports Ride Voucher.” Also, senior high schools and above, and their affiliated units nationwide, are invited to apply to become Youth Sports Voucher partners to jointly promote sports culture.
To promote nationwide sports participation and support green transportation policies, the SA has, for the first time, partnered with YouBike to introduce the concept of a “mobile sports field.” Through daily commuting or weekend recreational riding, young people can naturally include the habit of exercise into their lives to stay active in a convenient, stress-free way. Users can log in to the “My Youth Sports Voucher” page on the Sports Voucher website (500.gov.tw) to exchange the voucher for a “YouBike Sports Ride Voucher”; after verifying their YouBike membership account, a YouBike ride voucher of equal value can be redeemed. Once redeemed, the system will automatically credit the voucher to the user’s YouBike account.
The vouchers can be used at all YouBike rental stations nationwide. After completing a ride, the system will first deduct applicable discounts (such as season passes, subsidies from various county/city governments, senior citizen discounts, transfer discounts, student cards, citizen cards, etc.). Any remaining ride cost will then be deducted from the ride voucher first. If the ride voucher is insufficient to cover the full cost, the user must pay the difference. To check the voucher’s validity period, balance, and usage records, the official YouBike app can be downloaded.
The SA reminds users to purchase “Public Bicycle Injury Insurance” before riding YouBike and to obey traffic rules and yield to pedestrians to avoid accidents. This cooperation not only encourages young people to explore recreational activities and enjoy sports through cycling, it also achieves the dual goals of environmental sustainability and health promotion.
The SA also invites senior high schools and above, and their affiliated units nationwide, to apply to become Youth Sports Voucher partners. A briefing session for the central region was held on the 20th of June at 2 PM at National Chi Nan University. This aimed to guide central region schools and sports businesses to enable Youth Sports Vouchers to be used for school sports related activities or events. Eligible activities include sports-related knowledge, safety education, or experiential activities (such as cycling, water activities, hiking, road running, etc.); watching sports events; sports-themed performances (concerts, music events, lectures, sports shows, sports expos, etc.); and visiting sports culture venues or museums. This will promote active participation and experience in sports among young people.
