The "2024 ASPN Sports Tech Accelerator Batch 2 Demo Day," commissioned by the Sports Administration (SA) and organized by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, will take place on July 25 at Syntrend Creative Park. This event will feature 15 sports innovation teams from 8 countries (see the attached table for team profiles), all competing for two major awards: the SA Award and the ASPN Award. The top teams will gain access to valuable resources in the ASPN network to further expand into the international market.

The APEC Sports Policy Network (ASPN), launched by Taiwan’s SA in 2016 under APEC’s Human Resources Development Working Group, is a platform connecting sports officials and industry experts across APEC economies to drive innovation and education in sports. Since 2018, ASPN has brought together government, academia, and industry to foster talent, nurturing 130 standout teams from 25 countries. Notably, last year’s winner StatsInsight helped Taiwan win the WBSC Premier12 through its advanced baseball data analytics.

This batch aligns with the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s commitment to gender equality, placing strong emphasis on female participation. It also advances the application of sports technology in major international sporting events. A total of 50 domestic and international teams submitted applications, with the final 15 selected from Israel, the United States, India, Hong Kong, Australia, Switzerland, South Korea, and Taiwan. These teams will showcase their innovations on Demo Day, each aiming for top honors. Highlighted projects include AI-powered water safety monitoring systems, real-time automated video content platforms, wearable skin patches for tracking physical health, and smart insoles designed to analyze sports performance. Sarah Kelly, a board member of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Organizing Committee, will also be in attendance to discuss how the integration of sports technology into large-scale sporting events can enhance event management and elevate the experience for both athletes and spectators.

The SA also announced that the Ministry of Sports will be officially established on September 9, with sports diplomacy as a key priority. Through the ASPN network, Taiwan aims to strengthen international partnerships and further expand its sports innovation talent ecosystem. ASPN will continue to foster regional collaboration and showcase Taiwan on the global stage.
