The Sports Administration held the Sport Event Taiwan Workshop 2022 launching ceremony on March 23, 2022, inviting domestic and overseas speakers to share international sports innovation cases. Sports Administration Deputy Director-General Lin Che-hung and guests from 7 countries announced the launch of the Workshop together and witnessed the signing of a joint cooperation MOU by the Fun Sports in Taiwan program, HYPE GVA Taiwan, Asian Association for Sport Management (AASM) and the Japan Sport Tourism Alliance (JSTA). The hope is that everyone will work together to take international sports events to a new level.

The Sport Event Taiwan Workshop 2022 has three main pillars of “Branding, Innovation, Networking”. The Workshop will continue to assist local organizing committees (LOCs) to build branding concept; as well as further promote innovative applications of international sports events and enhance global linkage in response to the effect of the pandemic. This year’s Workshop offers a series of interesting and informative courses with diverse contents. Each course will be taught by an international lecturer and discussions arranged with domestic experts, aiming to elevate learning efficacy by in-depth exchange and interaction.

The Workshop plans to hold the Fun Sports Hackathon for the first time, inviting LOCs, sports innovation startups and college students to bring their ideas together and jointly produce the best plan for the innovation applications of international sports events. Also, an exchange and sharing meeting is prepared at year end to which domestic and overseas scholars and experts, LOCs, sports innovation startups and colleges will be invited, with the aim of producing new sparks through cross-border exchange and cooperation.

The event on 23rd adopted the hybrid model, combining physical and online activity. Officials from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Somaliland and Ulaanbaatar attended in person; representatives of AASM, HYPE Sports Innovation and JSTA also attended online. Guests from 7 countries were present at the grand occasion. Deputy Director General Lin said that the purpose of the Workshop is not only to emphasize the importance of branding, but also to enhance innovative thinking of the LOCs through benchmark sharing and Fun Sports Hackathon in order to prepare for post-pandemic era.

This year’s Workshop kicked off with a Forum; HYPE Sports Innovation COO Zvika Popper shared sports innovation cases in recent years and engaged in exchange with HYPE GVA Taiwan Director Hank Huang; Krzysztof Kropielnicki, Head of Insight and Analysis at Quantum Consultancy, was also invited to give a key note speech on the changes brought to international sports events by innovative technology; finally, AASM President Kang Cheng-nan, Auditor Wirdati Mohd. Radzi and Prof. Kao Chin-hsung of National Taiwan Sport University discussed cases of the establishment of technological sports venues for sports events in recent years.

The enthusiastic sharing on the various themes of the forum created limitless momentum and expectations for future sports exchange and announced the official lauch of the Sport Event Taiwan Workshop 2022. The Sports Administration invites everyone interested in international sports events to take part in the online courses and physical exchange events.
