2007 Abroad Teacher Training Program for Junior and Senior High School Cheerleading Teams

Purpose

Popularization of cheer dancing and cheerleading contests in Taiwan and improvement of the cheerleading skill level, fostering the team spirit of young students as well as exchanges with international cheerleading organizations to forge friendships with international student cheerleading teams

Task list

Outstanding coaches who had been selected in the school cheerleading championships proceeded to Orlando, FL, USA accompanied by the Chinese Taipei School Sport Federation to attend the international cheerleading competition “The Cheerleading Worlds”. This activity which was fully subsidized by the Ministry of Education was being held for the third time. “Cheerleading Worlds” has a four-year history and attracts cheerleading teams from all over America and all over the world every year. The contestants assemble in Orlando, Florida for a grand cheerleading contest. In an unprecedented move, China dispatched 9 cheerleading teams to participate in the event this year in order to promote cheerleading in China.
In recent years, Taiwan has made great progress in the promotion of cheerleading and compared to China the skill level is significantly higher. Our goal is to raise funds for the participation in large-scale competitions in the future.
The delegation not only attended the cheerleading competition but also the seminar for coaches and judges. They not only gained a deeper understanding of the scope and foundations of cheerleading in America but it is also hoped that they will be able to propose more effective and advanced methods to increase the scope of cheerleading in Taiwan.
