1. Nationwide implementation of the first and second stage of gymnastic exercises in the context of the nine-year integrated curriculum for first to third graders and fourth graders, respectively.
2. Nationwide implementation of Tee Ball for fifth and sixth graders
3. Nationwide implementation of relay races for seventh to ninth graders (junior high school)

Purpose

This program is implemented to ensure that junior high and elementary school students get into the habit of regular exercise and to improve their physical fitness. In particular, it is aimed at students who don’t like exercising to give them a chance to experience the joy of sports

Task list

This popularization campaign focuses on team sport disciplines that are popular, creative, interesting, safe, dynamic, easy to learn, and convenient to organize. Contests are held at three different levels: inter-class, inter-school (within the same city or county), regional (nationwide).
On February 16, 2009, the Ministry solicited suggestions from all county and city governments regarding which disciplines should be promoted. The results of this survey show that gymnastic exercises for first to fourth graders and relay races for fifth and sixth graders make up 40% and 24% of all suggestions, respectively, while five-person soccer and Tee Ball for fifth and sixth graders account for 20% and 12%. As for junior high school students, three-person basketball was the most suggested discipline with 48%, while 24% recommended relay races. In view of the fact that gymnastic exercises for first to fourth graders are the most implemented activity in all cities and counties, it was selected as the main item for first to fourth graders. Moreover, in line with the Baseball Revival Program, Tee Ball was promoted as the main discipline for fifth and sixth graders, while relay races were selected for seventh to ninth graders (junior high). The implementation details for each item are as follows:

I. Gymnastic exercises:
