CAPTIONSports Administration Director-General Te-Fu Lin announces the launch of the LINE ID:@isports.

LINE ID:@isports Launched  Sports Enthusiasm Goes "On LINE"
In efforts to provide the public with access to accurate, efficient, and practical sports information, the Sports Administration is promoting the iSports information LINE account (LINE ID:@isports). Opening up the opportunity to access this online companion will allow the public to integrate sports into their daily lives, increasing sports participation and enhancing sports quality.
The Internet makes an abundance of sports information readily available to the public, but the sources of this information often go unvetted and lack details. This may result in misunderstandings that lead to unsafe methods of participating in sports and exercise activities. The Sports Administration has established the LINE ID:@isports to help the public heighten their sports knowledge and develop correct ways to participate in sports and exercise. This platform will collect and compile the publics' most common myths about sports and exercise and ask experts and scholars to answer these queries via text, pictures and videos, providing the public with an expansive and trustworthy sports information source.
Sports Administration Director-General Te-Fu Lin urges the public to use LINE for more than just sending good morning, afternoon, and evening greetings stickers to family and friends. Join other sports and exercise enthusiasts at the iSports information LINE account (LINE ID:@isports). Together we can be iSport seeds sharing our enthusiasm and sports information with family and friends "on LINE"!

"Women Get Moving!" Women's Dance Extravaganza: New Residents Make Friends Through Dancing and Bring Families in Celebration of Mother's Day
Striving to encourage all demographics of women to participate in sports activities and cultivate regular exercise habits, the Sports Administration is promoting the concept of bringing sports and exercise into the family and encouraging parents and children to experience the joy of exercise together. This year in coordination with the Executive Yuan's New Southbound Policy on the eve of Mother's Day (May 13) we held the Women's Dance Extravaganza at the Chung Cheng Martial Arts Stadium in Kaohsiung City inviting ten new resident dance groups to put on cultural dance performances and exchanges. This celebration gave these women coming from different countries the chance to demonstrate the sports and performing arts of their respective native countries and further served to promote integration of new residents into the society as a whole.

CAPTIONThe Sports Administration holds a press release advocating water self-rescue skills.

Master Water Self-Rescue Skills  Enjoy Water Activities Safely
Summer is approaching and once again it is peak season for students to enjoy water activities. The Sports Administration wants students to "master the 4 self-rescue skills" before they can safely cool off the Dragon Boat Festival heat with fun in the water. We also urge students to abide by these simple water activity safety tips: 1) Choose venues with safety equipment and lifeguards and 2) Avoid dangerous activities and don't dive into the water.
According to Ministry of Education reports so far in 2017 there have been a total of 5 drowning incidents with students involved, resulting in 3 students suffering injuries and 4 fatalities. All of these incidents have occurred at locations without safety equipment and lifeguards and 2 of the fatalities resulted from students diving into the water. Since drowning incidents most commonly occur over the holidays and on the weekends, the Sports Administration urges schools to reinforce water safety advocacy efforts before vacation starts and also emphasize the fact that " even if you can't swim, you must still learn the water self-rescue skills." The four skills are as follows:
1. Slap water's surface: Placing both arms flat on the surface, raise your arms up and down slapping the surface while you yell for help. The splashing and noise will draw the attention of others.
2. Floatation device: Use any type of flotation device (or floating debris) available; or remove your clothing, flinging it from behind forward over your head and allowing it to fill with air for buoyancy.
3. Jellyfish drift: Take a deep breath with face down in the water, arms and legs dangling downwards naturally, and the body completely relaxed.
4. Back floating: Relax the entire body, take a deep breath of air filling the chest and abdomen, and then gradually tilt your head back. When you need to take the next breath quickly exhale through the mouth and inhale the next breath.
