2015 Round-the-Island Rites of Passage Gathering
Right before the arrival of summer vacation, the Sports Administration started spreading the word about the "Cycling Rites of Passage" tours coming up in the second half of 2015. This timing was geared at encouraging more youth to experience the joy of cycling during summer vacation and holidays. Students will have a chance to see the beautiful scenery, explore cultural sites, and gain an appreciation for the thrill of cycling along the way.
Since 2009 the Sports Administration and local governments have been organizing "Cycling Rites of Passage" tours for students aged 16 to 24 years old. These north to south and east to west routes vary in length anywhere from 100km, 200km, and 500km up to 1000km. Each tour showcases unique themes based on distinctive local environmental and cultural characteristics. 104年全臺單車成年禮大集結
為了讓更多的青少年認識與體驗單車運動的樂趣，體育署特別選在暑假剛剛開始前，集結了104年下半年全臺各地單車成年禮活動訊息，推薦給青少年朋友們在暑期與休閒假日裡，體驗臺灣各地方的文化與景色並一探單車運動的踩踏魅力。
體育署與各地方政府從98年起，針對16至24歲間的青年學子，辦理由南到北、由西到東各地方特色的單車成年禮活動，騎乘距離從100公里、200公里、500公里至1000公里不等。體育署表示，全臺各地方依照地方文化特色，各有不同的單車騎乘主題，相關資料登載於體育署「i運動資訊平台」網站：http://isports.sac.gov.tw/。

2015 Los Angeles Special Olympics
Successfully Concludes
This edition of the Special Olympics was held from July 24th to August 5th in Los Angeles. Our national delegation consisted of 58 participants including 52 athletes and 6 unified partners. Lead by delegation head Min-hui Huang and Sports Administration Deputy Director-general Shui-wen Wang, our national team participated in 8 competitive events (athletics, table tennis, badminton, bocce, swimming, bowling, roller skating, and basketball) and won 28 gold, 24 silver, and 16 bronze medals. Our delegation received a warm welcome from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, the Southern California overseas Chinese community, and Fo Guang Shan Xi Lai Temple. The delegation returned home on August 5th and went directly to the Presidential Office Building for a visit with President Ma who praised the athletes for their outstanding performances and achievements. All these young athletes persevered resiliently through the intense competition, each one glowing with health and radiating vitality. They will be able to use this "Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt" spirit to continue overcoming challenges in the future.

2015年洛杉磯夏季世界特殊奧林匹克運動會圓滿落幕
本屆特奧運動會7月24日至8月5日假洛杉磯舉行，我國代表團選手58人，包括特奧運動員52人及融合夥伴6人，在黃敏惠團長及體育署王水文副署長的領軍之下，參加田徑、桌球、羽球、滾球、游泳、保齡球、輪鞋競速及籃球等8種項目比賽，獲得28金24銀16銅佳績，代表團受到駐洛杉磯台北經濟文化辦事處、南加州僑界、佛光山西來寺熱情歡迎，代表團於8月5日返國，隨即前往總統府晉見馬總統，總統對所有參賽選手的優異表現，表達讚許與肯定之意。特奧小將經過競賽洗禮，個個神采奕奕，未來也將秉持特奧精神「勇敢嘗試、爭取勝利」繼續面對挑戰。

2015 World Archery Championships Record Setting Performance of 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Medals with 4 Olympic Qualifying Bids
The 2015 World Archery Championships in Copenhagen (DNK) concluded on August 2nd, 2015. Our national archery team captured 2 silver medals in Recurve Women's individual and Recurve Mixed team and 1 bronze medal in Recurve Men's team. Aside from surpassing the 1 silver and 1 bronze medals mark at the 2007 World Archery Championships in Leipzig (GER) with a record setting performance in Recurve competition, the nation also secured 3 men's and 1 woman's qualifying bids for the upcoming Rio Olympics. The moment Director-general Ho received news of the success, he immediately sent a message congratulating the athletes for their exceptional performances.
Despite winning 2 silver and 1 bronze medals and securing 4 Rio Olympics qualifying bids, there is still a lot of room for growth and development. The Sports Administration will continue going all out to provide the necessary resources for athlete training. We hope these efforts help our nation's talented archers excel at the World Championships next year in June, securing our Olympic qualifying bid limit for women and taking further steps towards actualizing our goals of winning medals at the Rio Olympics.

2015年世界射箭錦標賽首創2銀1銅歷史佳績 並獲4席奧運參賽資格
2015年哥本哈根世界射箭錦標賽已於104年8月2日閉幕，我國射箭代表隊共獲反曲弓項目女子個人及混雙項目2面銀牌與男子團體1面銅牌成績，除超越2007年萊比錫世錦賽的1銀1銅，創下世錦賽反曲弓項目參賽史上最佳成績外，同時也獲得男子3席及女子1席的里約奧運參賽席次，本署何署長在第一時間獲知捷報後，即拍發賀電恭賀選手的優異表現。
本次世錦賽我國射箭代表隊共獲2銀1銅成績及4席里約奧運參賽資格，但仍有成長空間，未來本署將賡續全力支援各項訓練所需資源，期能協助我國優秀選手於明年6月的世界大獎賽，取得女子滿席奧運參賽資格並進一步達成里約奧運奪牌目標。

National High School Student Fun Physical Fitness Games Launched
Creating a Healthy Campus Sports Atmosphere
2015 National High School Student Fun Physical Fitness Games were held at 4 regional locations starting on August 15th at the Taoyuan City Stadium, August 22nd at Chiayi County's WuFeng University of Science and Technology artificial turf football field, August 23rd at the Tainan Municipal Stadium, and August 29th at the National Pingtung University of Education University Stadium. More than 5,000 high school students signed up to participate in these activities. We hope these activities remind students about the importance of cultivating regular exercise habits, bring students together on campus, and create a healthy, vibrant campus sports atmosphere.
"Physically and Mentally Challenging" and "Teamwork and Cooperation: the Ultimate Test" are at the heart of this activity. We anticipate that through participation in these fun contests students will fully manifest the 3Q spirit. The term 3Q refers to IQ (intellectual development), EQ (emotional development), and PQ (physical development). Five fun contests–Tank Battle, Upside Down, Land Canoeing, Stepping Up, and an Obstacle Course Relay Race–have been designed to test participants physical strength and coordination and challenge their ability to cooperate as a team, while manifesting the 3Qs to the fullest. These activities give those who don't regularly engage in physical activities the chance to get out and move about, encouraging youth to get exercise through fun activities.

全國高中職學生趣味體能競賽登場

營造健康校園運動風氣
體育署104年全國高中職學生趣味體能競賽，活動於8月15日桃園市立田徑場、8月22日嘉義吳鳳科技大學人工草皮足球場、8月23日臺南市立田徑場及8月29日國立屏東教育大學田徑場等4區陸續舉辦，預計將吸引5,000名高中職學生報名參加，希望藉此能夠提昇學生養成規律運動習慣，凝聚校園團結意識，營造健康活潑的校園運動風氣。
此次活動以「體力與智力大挑戰」 、「團隊與默契總考驗」為核心主軸，透過參與趣味體能競賽的過程，期許同學能充分發揮3Q精神。所謂的3Q指的是IQ智能發展、EQ情緒發展及PQ體能發展，在這次活動中，設計了「坦克大賽」、「天翻地覆」、「陸上行舟」、「步步高升」、「體能障礙接力賽」五大趣味競賽項目，考驗參賽者體力與技巧協調，挑戰選手間的團隊精神與默契，透過比賽過程將3Q發揮極致。讓平時不常運動的人，也可以有機會一起動動身體，既能達到運動的目的，又能在趣味活動中達到運動的效果。

First Time 2015 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup Held in Southern Taiwan
The 2015 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup was held from July 24th to August 2nd in Tainan City with the top teams from 12 nations and five continents worldwide competing. This was the third time our nation has hosted the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup. The first two editions were held in Taipei City and this year the tournament moved back to the "home of Taiwan's little league baseball" Tainan City, where the next two editions will continue to be played. We hope the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup will become a major international little league tournament held biennially, akin to " The Williamsport of Taiwan." On July 24th, Executive Yuan Minister without Portfolio Hong-Sen Yan and SAMOE Director-general Jow-fei Ho attended the Cup's Opening Ceremony to welcome the young baseball players from afar to Taiwan. They also expressed their admiration and support for all the hard work and dedication our nation's U-12 team players had gone through in preparation for competition, and said they looked forward to the players winning glory for the nation.
This tournament was intensely competitive and our national team was up for the challenge overcoming each obstacle to qualify for the championship round where they faced the U.S. team. The title game was held on August 2nd and our national team had to settle for second place losing by a score of 2:7. However, the kids' relentless competitive spirit, battling to the end, won victorious applause from the 13,000 spectators in attendance.

2015年第3屆世界盃少棒錦標賽
首度移師南臺灣
「2015年第3屆世界盃少棒錦標賽」於7月24日至8月2日在臺南市舉行，有全球五大洲選拔出最優秀的12國少棒隊參賽。這是我國第3度主辦世界少棒錦標賽，前2屆都在臺北市舉行，本屆首度移師臺灣少棒發源地臺南市，未來2屆也將繼續在臺南市舉辦，希望能將世界盃少棒錦標賽打造成臺灣的威廉波特，成為全球少棒每2年一度的盛事。行政院顏政務委員鴻森及體育署何署長卓飛親自出席7月24日晚間舉行的開幕典禮，歡迎遠道而來的棒球小將們，同時也親往慰問辛苦鍛鍊的我國少棒代表隊小選手，期勉小選手能為國爭光。
本次比賽戰況激烈，我少棒代表隊一路過關斬將，取得與美國爭奪冠亞軍的資格，在8月2日的冠亞軍戰，以2:7的成績屈居亞軍，但小朋友奮戰不懈的精神，贏得全場13,000名觀眾的熱烈喝采。

Science and Industrial Park Civic Sports Center Opens
The Sports Administration provides local government with assistance to construct the eighth civic sports center–Science and Industrial Park Civic Sports Center– which began trial operations on July 18th and officially opened its doors to the public on August 1st. The facility is equipped with a swimming pool, fitness center, exercise bike classroom, yoga classroom, dance classroom, and a multi-purpose gymnasium. Striving to provide the public with a premium quality sports and recreational environment, the Sports Administration's Improvement of National Sports Environment and Sports Island Establishment Plan will assist in the construction of 32 civic sports centers in metropolitan areas nationwide. Civic sports centers have already opened in New Taipei City's Luzhou, Tamshui, Sanchong, Chungho, Tucheng, Banchiao, and Xin Wu Tai districts. By the end of this August, the completion of construction and opening of operations is scheduled for the civic sports center in Pingtung County's Pingtung City.

新竹市新科國民運動中心啟用
教育部體育署助地方政府興建第八座落成啟用的國民運動中心--「新科國民運動中心」於本（104）年7月18日啟用試營運，並於8月1日正式開幕，設置有游泳池、體適能中心、飛輪教室、瑜珈教室、舞蹈教室及綜合球場等運動設施。教育部體育署「改善國民運動環境與打造運動島計畫」規劃於都會區補助興建32座國民運動中心，提供民眾優質之運動健康環境，目前已有新北市蘆洲、淡水、三重、中和、土城、板橋及新五泰等七座國民運動中心啟用，本年8月另有屏東縣屏東市國民運動中心啟用。
