Battle for the 2014 High School Baseball League Wooden Bat Division Championship
Promoting student baseball is one of our key policy initiatives. The Sports Administration has been promoting student baseball leagues since 1989 and this marks our 25th year. Along the way, we have made substantial achievements in improving the sports atmosphere on school campuses and cultivating talented baseball players.
The Academic Year 2014 High School Baseball League Championship Tournament began on 4th February in Kaohsiung City and was held in three stages. This year 18 cities and counties and 41 schools nationwide registered, the most teams ever to participate in the Wooden Bat Division. At this year's tournament, outstanding players such as Wen-Hua Song (150km/hr fastball) from Taoyuan City's Ping Jen Senior High School; An-Ke Lin (2 home runs) from Tainan City's Nan Ying Vocational Vocational High School; and Hu Chen (MVP of the Black Panther Pennant) from New Taipei City's Ku-Pao Home Economics & Commercial High School showed they were ready for primetime. It was encouraging to see so many gifted young players out there fortifying the foundations for a promising future in our nation's baseball development.
When all the dust had settled Kao-Yuan Vocational High School of Technology & Commerce captured the championship title defeating New Taipei City's Ku-Pao Home Economics & Commercial High School by a score of 8:1.

103學年度高中棒球木棒組聯賽冠軍戰登場
推廣學生棒球運動為本部重要政策，自78學年度起，本部推動學生棒球運動聯賽迄今已邁入第25年，培育出許多頂尖人才，不僅有助於提昇校園運動風氣，對於培育棒球運動選手亦具卓越績效。
103學年度高中棒球木棒組聯賽於2月4日起於高雄市分3階段舉行，今年全臺共有18縣市41所學校報名參加，創下木棒組聯賽歷年最多隊參賽紀錄，本屆除桃園市平鎮高中宋文華(速球150km)、臺南市南英商工林安可(兩支全壘打)及黑豹旗最有價值球員新北市穀保家商陳琥等優秀球員之外，更有許多好手輩出，厚植我國棒球發展基礎與實力。
最終於3月8日在高雄市澄清湖棒球場舉行的冠軍戰由高雄市高苑工商以8:1擊敗新北市穀保家商奪得冠軍。

2014 Men's HBL Champions Taipei Municipal Songshan Senior High School
The finals of the Academic Year 2014 High School Basketball League (HBL) took place on March 7th and 8th at the Taipei Arena drawing a packed house of 15,000 spectators on hand both days to watch the excitement. The final results of men's and women's competition are as follows: Men's—(Champion) Taipei Municipal Songshan Senior High School, (Runner-up) New Taipei Municipal Taishan Senior High School, (Third Place) Shin Rong Senior High School, and (Fourth Place) Private Nanshan Senior High School; and Women's—(Champion) Tamsui Vocational High School, (Runner-up) Tainan Municipal Yong-Ren Senior High School, (Third Place) Taipei First Girls High School, and (Fourth Place) National Yang Ming Senior High School.
There were four divisions at this year's HBL Tournament. Aside from the Men's and Women's Class A, there were also Men's and Women's Class B competitions. A total of 366 teams and 6,964 participants, including 27 Men's Class A, 13 Women's Class A, 230 Men's Class B, and 97 Women's Class B teams. There were 20 more teams participating in this year's tournament compared to last year. This shows that the sport of basketball in our nation is gaining ground and becoming increasingly popular among youth.

103學年度HBL高中籃球聯賽 男生組松山高中奪冠
103學年度HBL高中籃球聯賽， 3月7、8兩日在臺北小巨蛋舉行總決賽，每天皆吸引爆滿的1萬5,000名觀眾入場觀戰，盛況空前，最終男女子組排名如下：
男生組：冠軍松山高中、亞軍泰山高中、季軍新榮高 中、殿軍南山高中。
女生組：冠軍淡水商工、亞軍永仁高中、季軍北一女中、殿軍陽明高中。
今年的高中籃球聯賽除了甲級男、女子組外，另外還有乙級男、女子組共4組，共有366隊6,964人參賽，其中男子甲級27隊、女子甲級13隊、男子乙級230隊、女子乙級97隊，共比去年增加20隊，這也代表著我國籃球運動的扎根工作越來越上軌道，而熱愛籃球運動的學生越來越多。

Football Mid-range Plan Taking Root in Elementary Schools
Advancement of Nation's Football Development Continues
The Sports Administration's Football Mid-range Plan will continue implementation in 2015. The Football Fun Program has been expanded from elementary school 5th and 6th grades to include 1st through 6th grades, giving children the opportunity to get involved in sports at an even younger age. The promotion of leagues and tournaments will also continue in junior and senior high schools and universities. In conjunction with the 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade, four competitive venues and six practice fields will be built. These facilities will have artificial turf pitches due to its suitability in Taiwan's climate, low maintenance costs, and flat surface quality. These initiatives have been vital for the development of football in our nation.

「足球中程計畫」向下深入國小階段
持續發展我國足球運動
教育部體育署「足球中程計畫」104年將持續辦理，在學校部分，已將樂樂足球運動從國小5、6年級延伸至國小1至6年級，讓小朋友能從小就開始接觸足球運動；在國、高中及大學部分，各項聯賽也持續推動。在硬體方面，將配合2017臺北世大運，選擇適合臺灣氣候、降低維護成本又具有高度平整性品質的人工草皮球場，興整建包括4面競賽場地及6面練習場，這些政策對我國足球運動發展都相當重要。

2015 Tour de Taiwan Rolls
The 2015 Tour de Taiwan, a Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) 2.1-rated race, was held from 22nd to 26th March and its five stages traced through Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County. This year 22 top teams with a total of 110 riders participated. In addition to Australia's Drapac Professional Cycling Team and the US' Team Novo Nordisk, both UCI Professional Continental Teams (2nd division), 14 other UCI Professional Continental Teams participated, along with 6 national teams representing Japan, Uzbekistan, Thailand, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, and Hong Kong. The biggest winner was Iranian Mirsamad Pourseyedigolakrhour who came away with the General Individual Time Classification Champion (yellow jersey), the Asian Champion (blue jersey), and the Mountains Classification (red polka-dot jersey). The Pishgaman Giant Team won the General Team Time Classification and Chinese Taipei Team's Wu, Po Hung finished in 4th place (1st place among Asian riders) in Stage 5 and 46th place overall after Stage 5.

2015國際自由車環台賽熱鬧登場
2015國際自由車環台賽3月22日至26日舉行，五站賽程行經臺北市、桃園市、彰化縣、南投縣、臺南市、高雄市及屏東縣。今年共有來自22支勁旅的110位車手總計今年共有22支勁旅參加角逐，其中澳洲卓別克隊和美國諾和諾德隊是2級的洲際職業隊，另有14支洲際隊以及日本隊、烏茲別克隊、泰國隊、南韓隊、中華隊、香港隊等6支國家隊。比賽結果方面，伊朗大布里斯隊Mirsamad Pourseyedigolakrhour(波爾賽迪格克豪)包辦個人總冠軍黃衫、亞洲第一藍衫和登山王紅豆衫，是最大贏家，團隊總冠軍落入伊朗皮斯格曼隊手中，中華隊以巫帛宏首站單站第4、總排46最佳。

New Taipei City Sanchong Civic Sports Center Opens
The Sports Administration provides subsidies to assist local governments in constructing civic sports centers. The Banchiao Civic Sports Center is the sixth to be completed and it begins trial operations on 24th March 2015. The facility is equipped with a swimming pool, fitness center, exercise bike classroom, multi-purpose gymnasium, rock climbing course, and martial arts classroom. Striving to provide the public with a premium quality sports and recreational environment, the Sports Administration's Improvement of National Sports Environment and Sports Island Establishment Plan will assist in the construction of 32 civic sports centers in metropolitan areas nationwide. Civic sports centers have already opened in New Taipei City's Luzhou, Tamshui, Sanchong, Chungho, and Tucheng districts. By the end of this year, the completion of construction and opening of operations is scheduled for civic sports centers in New Taipei City's Xin Wu Tai, Hsinchu City's Science and Industrial Park, and Pingtung City.

新北市板橋國民運動中心啟用
教育部體育署補助地方政府興建第六座落成啟用的國民運動中心--「板橋國民運動中心」於104年3月24日上午啟用試營運，設置有游泳池、體適能中心、飛輪教室、綜合球場、攀岩場、武術教室等運動設施。教育部體育署「改善國民運動環境與打造運動島計畫」規劃於都會區補助興建32座國民運動中心，提供民眾優質之運動健康環境，目前已有新北市蘆洲、淡水、三重、中和及土城國民運動中心啟用，預計於104年度另有新北市新五泰、新竹市新科及屏東市國民運動中心完工並陸續啟用。

500 km Cycling Cultural Experiential Tour—
Four Routes Ready for Spring Break
The Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation (CTUSF) is promoting the Taiwan Cycling Cultural Experiential Tour during April's Spring Break. The slogan for this activity is "See the World in Motion," and You-ning Cao, the lead actor in the movie Kano, has been invited to serve as spokesperson. Young people aged from 15 to 30 are encouraged to cycle around and explore famous historical sites throughout Taiwan. This year the four main themes are the Northern Taiwan Harbor Tour, Central Taiwan Hakka Cultural Tour, Southern Taiwan Historical Monument and Cultural Tour, and Twin Pagoda Challenge Tour.
Secretary-General Che-Hong Lin explains that the Sports Administration integrates inter-ministerial resources with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and Ministry of the Interior to provide counties and cities with ongoing assistance for the construction of bicycle paths. There are currently over 4,000 km of bicycle paths, and work is currently underway to complete construction of a bicycle path network that connects counties and cities nationwide and drives development of the leisure and recreation industry. In addition, the Sports Island Development Plan will provide subsidies to local governments to organize 100 km LOHAS Cycling Tours and Joyride Tours, opening up pathways that make it easy and enjoyable for the public to tour Taiwan.

500km單車文化體驗之旅
四大路線春假上路
大專體總4月春假推出「臺灣單車文化騎跡體驗行」活動，打出「移動，決定你看世界的方式」口號，並邀請電影KANO主角曹佑寧擔任代言人，邀請15～30歲的青年學子騎乘腳踏車環遊臺灣各地名勝古蹟。今年的四大主題，分別是北臺灣海港之旅、中臺灣客家文化之旅、南臺灣古蹟文化之旅以及雙塔挑戰之旅。
林哲宏主秘表示，體育署結合交通部、內政部等跨部會資源，持續補助各縣市建置自行車道，目前總長度已經超過4,000公里，並且陸續完成跨縣市路網整合，進而帶動周邊休閒產業的發展。此外，也透過「打造運動島計畫」輔助各縣市辦理單車快樂遊、逍遙遊等百公里單車活動，讓民眾暢遊臺灣，通行無阻。
