Five Industrial Park Runs in 2014...Ready...Go!

The first Industrial Park Run (iRUN) took place on July 19th in Hsinchu. The Marathon Relay hosted 83 teams with 810 participants, and including employee's families and members of the general public, a total of nearly 3,000 people took part. Director-General Jow-fei Ho believes that the physical fitness of employees is vital to the competitiveness and success of enterprises! Supporting and organizing sports and fitness activities not only shows a commitment to employees' health, but enables corporations to receive tax deductions under the Sports Industry Development Act as well. It really is a win-win situation! The organizer, Chinese Taipei University Sports Federation (CTUSF), also held two night run training sessions, which turned out to be very popular activities.
These iRUN events consist of four categories: a 42.195 km Marathon Relay (for industrial park employees), a 10 km Challenge (for the general public), a 5 km Fun Run, and a 3 km Parent-Child Run. This year, the Sports Administration has made plans to hold five iRUNs. Shortly following the opening iRUN at the Hsinchu Science and Industrial Park, ensuing events will take place on July 26th at the Central Taiwan Science Park, on September 6th at the Southern Taiwan Science Park, and on November 1st at the Neihu Technology Park. The finale will be on November 15th with the road run carnival festivities to be held at the Neihu Technology Park. 103年5場工業區健康快樂跑啟動！

今年首場「工業區健康快樂跑」7月19日在新竹起跑，吸引83隊810人參加團體接力賽，加上員工眷屬及民眾，近3,000人參賽。體育署何卓飛署長認為，員工的體力就是公司競爭力！企業支持並舉辦體育活動，不但照顧員工健康，同時依據運動產業發展條例減免營業所得稅，可說是一舉兩得。主辦單位大專體總在賽前舉辦2梯次夜跑訓練，也受到熱烈好評。
路跑賽分別為42.195公里馬拉松接力賽，挑戰組10公里、5公里FUN RUN和親子3公里。體育署規劃今年舉辦5場工業區健康快樂跑，第一站在新竹科學工業園區起跑後，緊接著7月26日臺中的中部科學工業園區，9月6日臺南的南部科學工業園區，11月1日在臺北市內湖科技園區，最後在11月15日臺北市內湖舉辦路跑嘉年華，歡迎企業員工眷屬共同參與，響應運動健身、快樂人生！活動詳情可點連結http://www.aimg.com.tw/Web2/Activity/Default?id=1012。

New Taipei City Shulin Sports Center Construction Breaks Ground

Actively engaged in promoting the Improvement of National Sports Environment and Sports Island Establishment Plan, the Sports Administration has made plans to construct 32 civic sports centers in metropolitan areas nationwide, providing the public with a premium quality sports and recreational environment. The Shulin Sports Center will have five stories above ground and one basement level. The building is being constructed of steel reinforced concrete and will have a total area of 7,300 square meters. It is scheduled for completion in March 2016. In addition to a 50 m swimming pool, squash, badminton, billiards, table tennis, chess, reading room, children's playroom, outdoor rock climbing, multi-purpose sports field (croquet), aerobics classroom, and multi-purpose court, the Sports Center will serve to promote sports development in Shulin District by equipped with world-class taekwondo training facilities.
Currently, 15 public sports centers are under construction, while another 15 are in the initial planning stage of assessing project feasibility and evaluating operators. This year, completion of construction and commencement of operations is scheduled for 6 civic sports centers—New Taipei City (Luzhou, Sanchong, Tamshui, Chungho, and Tucheng) and Hsinchu City (Science and Industrial Park).

新北市樹林國民運動中心開工動土

教育部體育署推動「改善國民運動環境與打造運動島計畫」，規劃於都會區興建32座國民運動中心，提供國民優質的運動休閒環境。樹林運動中心為地上5層、地下1層鋼骨鋼筋混凝土建築物，基地面積約7,300平方公尺，預計在105年3月完工營運。除了50M游泳池、壁球、羽球、撞球、桌球、棋藝、閱覽室、兒童遊戲室、戶外攀岩場、多功能運動場(槌球場)、韻律教室、綜合球場外，特別因應樹林地區運動發展，設有國際級的跆拳道教室。
目前共有15座國民運動中心進行施工，另有15座國民運動中心辦理先期規劃促參可行性評估作業及招商作業中。預計有新北市蘆洲、三重、淡水、中和、土城及新竹市新科等6座國民運動中心將在今年完工啟用。

Taiwan Wins 3 Gold, 4 Silver, and 6 Bronze Medals at the Asian Judo Open

The 2014 Asian Open Taipei was held on 27th and 28th July at the University of Taipei Tianmu Campus. Premier athletes from a total of 22 countries, including the United States, Russia, Kuwait, China, Mongolia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, participated.
Chinese Taipei Judo Federation hosted the 1st Asian Open Taipei in 2006 and now the tournament has entered its eighth year. It continues to receive recognition and praise from other Asian nations. This year's tournament obtained approval from the Judo Union of Asia to be listed as a 2016 Olympic ranking point competition. Taiwan's athletes will have the opportunity to strengthen their skills and gain confidence in international level competition and also be able to display their talent in front of their home crowd, effectively promoting the sport of judo in our nation.
The Asian Open Taipei is among the 32 Olympic ranking point competitions worldwide and is classified as a continental open. Taiwan's sister duo, Chen-ling Lien and Pei-ju Lien, captured gold medals in the women's under-57 kg and under-52 kg weight class, respectively, and Chun-ta Huang captured gold in the men's under-73 kg weight class.

亞洲柔道公開賽，中華隊獲三金四銀六銅佳績

2014年亞洲柔道公開賽-臺北站於7月27日、28日在臺北市立大學天母校區舉行，總計有美國、俄羅斯、科威特、中國大陸、蒙古、香港及臺灣等22國的頂尖好手參加。
中華民國柔道總會從2006年舉辦第一屆臺北國際柔道公開賽，邁入第八年，深受亞洲各國的讚許，今年獲得亞洲柔道聯盟同意列為2016奧運積分賽，使臺灣選手有機會透過國際等級賽事強化技巧與自信，並在國人面前展現實力，促進柔道運動的推廣。
亞洲柔道公開賽-臺北站為2014年全球32場奧運積分賽之一，屬於亞洲的洲際公開賽。我國選手由連珍羚及連珮如姊妹分別贏得女子57公斤及52公斤級金牌、黃君達贏得男子73公斤級金牌。

TLPGA Tour Joins Women's World Golf Rankings

Four years of persistent efforts by the Taiwan Ladies Professional Golf Association (TLPGA) have culminated in receiving Women's World Golf Rankings (WWGR) recognition. Starting this August competitors will be able to pick up world ranking points at all TLPGA Tour events. This makes it possible for our nation's golfers to earn "world ranking" points at tournaments here at home instead of traveling long distances abroad. It will also attract more of the world's elite golfers to come compete in Taiwan and match up against our nation's players.
In order for the TLPGA Tour to maintain WWGR eligibility strict membership criteria must be met, including holding a minimum of 10 events (54 hole) each year, having an average purse for a single event of at least US$100,000 and an average of at least 75 professional golfers competing, holding annual Q-Schools and reserving quotas for international players, and having a minimum of 120 Tour members. Considering the government's limited capacity to allocate funding for sports, the Sports Administration urges corporations to offer their generous support and realizes that the development of golf can only be driven by the ongoing support of private enterprises. Likewise, the Sports Administration will continue efforts to do its part at the institutional level providing corporate sponsorship with attractive incentives.

臺灣女子高爾夫巡迴賽納入世界積分

臺灣女子職業高爾夫協會(TLPGA)經過4年努力，獲得世界女子高爾夫積分組織(Women's World Golf Rankings，WWGR）認可，今年8月起旗下所有巡迴賽將納入世界積分，使我國選手不必長途遠征，也能在國內舉辦的比賽贏得「世界排名」積分，未來將吸引更多高水準職業好手來臺參賽，與我國球員同場較技。
體育署表示，臺灣女子高爾夫巡迴賽要持續納入世界積分，每年須至少舉辦10場賽事(54洞)、單場賽事平均獎金至少10萬美元、總賽事平均至少75位職業選手參賽、每年固定舉辦資格考與開放合理名額給外國球員、巡迴賽會員至少120名等條件，在政府體育經費有限的情況下，體育署鼓勵各企業大力支持贊助，以民間企業的力量持續支持高爾夫運動的發展，體育署也將在制度上努力，提供企業贊助的利基及誘因。

Asian Junior Women's Volleyball Championship in Taipei

The 2014 17th Asian Women's U19 Volleyball Championship took place from 16th to 24th July 2014 at the Taipei Arena and University of Taipei Tianmu Campus. Elite junior women's teams from 15 nations, including Australia, China, Iran, India, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand, gathered for intense competition. The top three volleyball teams at this Asian Junior Women's Championship earned rights to represent the Asian region at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship.
The Sports Administration encourages and fully supports holding international sports events in Taiwan. This year, the Asian Junior Women's Volleyball Championship was once gain held in Taiwan. Besides all of the Chinese Taipei Volleyball Association's hard work and exhaustive efforts, the Asian Volleyball Confederation and the Taipei City Government also offered their dedicated assistance, and the Taichung Commercial Bank, Co., Ltd. was among the corporate sponsors providing generous support. We anticipate that holding this international event will give local athletes greater opportunities to gain more competitive experience, while also effectively marketing Taiwan and promoting development and enthusiasm for sports throughout the population.
The final results saw China, Japan, and South Korea finishing in the top three spots, successfully qualifying for in the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's U20 World Championship.

亞洲青年女子排球錦標賽在臺北

「2014年亞洲青年女子(U19)排球錦標賽」於103年7月16日至24日在臺北體育館及臺北市立大學天母校區激烈開戰，共有來自澳洲、中國大陸、伊朗、印度、日本、南韓、泰國等15國青年女子排球高手齊聚一堂。本屆亞青錦標賽前三名的球隊將取得亞洲區代表權，參加2015年世界青年錦標賽。
教育部體育署一向鼓勵並支持重要國際運動賽事在臺灣舉行，亞洲青年女子排球錦標賽今年再度於臺灣舉辦，除中華民國排球協會的努力與辛勞，也有勞亞洲排球聯合會協助，臺北市政府和臺中銀行等贊助廠商支持。體育署期許本項國際賽事的舉辦，提供國內選手更多競技磨練的平台，同時達到行銷臺灣的效果，帶動國民運動之發展與風氣。
本屆比賽最後由中國大陸、日本及韓國取得前三名，晉級參加2015年世界青年女子(U19)排球錦標賽。
